One of the most popular wooden window choices at Knight’s Mark are sash windows. We design our wooden sash windows to create a Victorian or Georgian style era look. You can choose from softwood or hardwood windows. There are two different types of how the windows can be operated – with spiral balances or cord & weights.
Spiral balanced windows has been introduced fairly recently (80’s) as an economical an solution to operate the sashes. The balances are hidden behind the frame for a more aesthetical look. Currently, it is a more preferred mechanism then Cord & Weights.
Cord & Weights is the traditional way of operating the sliding sashes. Nylon cord is operated on a self-lubricating wheel. Sometimes this style of opening and windows are refered as ‘box sash’.
Timber sash windows require very little maintenance and they can last you for decades. Also, our windows offer great energy efficiency and are designed with all the traditional details and carefully selected features such as bars, moulding and various architectural hardware.
